Silent Tunnel Excavation Robot System

KNR Systems is collaborating with the KRRI(Korea Railroad Research Institute) to develop a silent tunnel excavation robot system. This innovative system consists of a drilling machine for creating holes in rock formations, a splitting device that utilizes natural fissures to break the rock apart, and a robotic arm for precisely operating these tools. The excavation system, including the splitting device, serves as a key technology for efficiently fracturing hard geological formations, securing the necessary space for tunnel construction.

In urban underground environments, where construction noise sensitivity and structural safety are critical, tunnel excavation requires precise operational capabilities from the splitting device. Through mechanized operation, it ensures worker safety while following the designed tunnel path accurately, enabling precise fracturing of rock formations. Our hydraulic robotic arm technology enhances the splitting device with powerful breaking force and precise control, allowing efficient operation across various geological conditions. This advanced technology is expected to significantly improve safety and efficiency in large-scale railway and road tunnel projects, as well as urban tunnel construction.
