Pipe Inspection & Cleaning Robot

In the steel and chemical industries, pipeline inspection and cleaning robots utilize high-precision sensors and cameras to accurately assess pipe conditions. These robots effectively clean pipelines, enhancing operational safety and efficiency while contributing to extended equipment lifespan and reduced unexpected maintenance costs.

In 2017, our company participated in the development of a 16-inch diameter gas pipeline inspection robot under the supervision of Korea Gas Corporation, taking responsibility for the development of the robotic drive unit and controller. This robot features a snake-like structure with a total length of 3.5 meters, composed of 8 branch modules. It has a self-weight of 210 kg and a maximum traction force of 350 kgf, ensuring efficient movement and inspection within pipeline environments. Additionally, it is capable of performing non-destructive testing in various pipeline conditions, including horizontal pipes, vertical pipes, and 1.5D curved pipelines. In 2021, we also developed a pipeline inspection robot with a brush cleaning system designed for 6-inch diameter chemical pipelines. This robot enhances pipeline maintenance efficiency by effectively removing contaminants while ensuring thorough inspections, contributing to improved operational reliability and extended equipment lifespan.

The development of pipeline inspection robots requires multi-faceted technological integration, including inspection sensors, analytical software, and operational processes, making collaboration between companies essential. Moving forward, our company plans to leverage its existing development capabilities to focus on the research and development of large-scale pipeline inspection robots, capable of inspecting or cleaning pipelines over 1 meter in diameter. This initiative aims to enhance efficiency and reliability in industrial pipeline maintenance.
